SETTINGS
POS-2200 is a highly configurable system. That means that you can set options in the system to make it behave in ways that are most appropriate to your own store.
Most options are found on the SETTINGS screen shown below. The menu link to that screen is found on the SUPERVISOR menu.
The settings screen has tabs across the top which address various areas. Each of these sections will be discussed individually below. Basically you just set the options as you want then click the SAVE button at the bottom of the screen to store your selections.
DESCRIPTIONS
POS-2200 allows a variety of optional items to be given descriptive names appropriate to the store. For example, the system has three phone numbers for customers and vendors. You might set the system to make the first phone read "HOME", the second to read "WORK" and the third to read "FAX".
To set a description take these steps:
- Find the description in the list shown at the top of the screen.
- Double click on that item.
- Enter the description that you want to use in the box below the list
- Click the SAVE button to the right of the description box.
ACCOUNT ID
POS-2200 allows customer and vendor ID's (also called an account number) to be stored as pure numbers or as alpha/numeric items.
The BEST setting to use is the second one: "Alpha/numeric (right justify if numeric)"
The other settings are included for store specific special cases.
ALTERNATE PROGRAMS
POS-2200 is designed to allow store-specific alternate programs for certain functions. In most cases there are no alternate programs. If a client has a custom program written for their use then that program will appear in one of the lists shown on this screen.
TAX RATE
POS-2200 allows a single sales tax rate to be applied to all sales.
Enter the rate as a whole number with a fraction. That is, a SIX PERCENT sales tax would be entered as 6.00.
(The software design has the potential for supporting multiple tax rates and multiple taxing authorities. That feature has not been implemented at this time.)
